Take a musical adventure through France and Russia as we immerse in a soundscape of Romanticism. Opening with French composer Hector Berlioz’s overture to his comic opera Béatrice et Bénédict, and moving to Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, a monument of such stature that every aspiring violinist studies it, but to perform it take not only great skill but a level of endurance one can only ascribe to a marathon runner. Featuring rising star violinist Lun Li, who’s appearance is made possible through a collaboration with Young Concert Artists, Inc., The Symphony by César Franck is not often performed, but is well worth a listen. Lush romanticism rolls throughout this symphonic work, and is the only mature symphony written by this prolific composer.
