  • Italian pianist Roberto Plano makes his BSO debut in Beethoven’s magnificent Piano Concerto. No. 4
  •  Dvořák’s Carnival Overture was part of his “Nature, Life, and Love” trilogy of overtures, forming the second part, “Life”
  • The Polovtsian Dances come from Borodin’s opera Prince Igor, adopted from an ancient Russian epic, and are often performed separately as an orchestral showcase
