DESCRIPTION:Masterworks II\nSymphonic Metamorphosis\n\n\nNovember 22\, 2026 at 3pm\nCollins Center for the Arts \nLucas Richman\, conductor\nHenry Kramer\, piano\nInspiration for the younger generation – journey with us as we hear how Edward Elgar was inspired by J.S. Bach\, and the pinnacle work of Paul Hindemith inspired by von Weber. The Second Piano Concerto of Beethoven heavily borrows techniques used by W.A. Mozart\, who passed away just four years before this work’s premiere\, with drama and contrast evident in Beethoven’s maturing works plainly audible. \nThis concert is currently part of a Subscription Package. Single tickets go on sale August 6\, 2026. \nProgram \nDer Freischütz Overture | Carl Maria von Weber\nPiano Concerto No. 2 | Ludwig van Beethoven\nHenry Kramer\, piano\nFantasia and Fugue in C minor | J.S. DESCRIPTION:Masterworks III\nNoble Splendor\n\n\nJanuary 31\, 2027 at 3pm\nCollins Center for the Arts \nLucas Richman\, conductor\nJulian Rhee\, violin\nTake a journey with us as we travel through the regions of Austria\, America\, Poland and Germany to experience lyricism and connection through the noble splendor of orchestral compositional giants. The overture to Mozart’s short opera\, Der Schauspieldirektor (The Impresario)\, and the Violin Concerto No. 2 by Wieniawski both engage the listener with beautiful\, singing melodies that are contrasted with dramatic flair and comedic wit.  Schubert was known for having composed over 600 lieder\, and the singing quality of his melodies is heard throughout the “Great” symphony. \nThis concert is currently part of a Subscription Package. Single tickets go on sale August 6\, 2026. \nProgram \nOverture to Der Schauspieldirektor | W.A. Mozart\nTBD (World Premiere)  | Lucas Richman\nViolin Concerto No. 2 in D minor\, op. 22 | Henri Wieniawski\nJulian Rhee\, violin\nSymphony No. 9 in C minor\, “The Great” | Franz Schubert

DESCRIPTION:Masterworks V\nResurrection Symphony\n\n\nApril 25\, 2027 at 3pm\nCollins Center for the Arts \nLucas Richman\, conductor\nNatalia Santaliz\, soprano\nErin Wagner\, mezzo-soprano\nUniversity Singers\nOratorio Society\nOur season finale will not disappoint! Join us as we welcome a large orchestra plus the University Singers and Oratorio Society on stage for Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony. \nGustav Mahler\, himself\, wrote these words about his Symphony No. 2 \nDuring his tenure as Music Director for the New York Philharmonic (for which Mahler was also Music Director from 1909-1911)\, Leonard Bernstein almost single-handedly led the revival of Mahler’s music. Bernstein’s stirring “Olympic Hymn” pays tribute to values embodied in the Olympics: “Give an example that applies to all: Fight as friends\, not as foes.”
